The Retreat is the home of Goshen Health System’s comprehensive, state-of-the-art Women’s Services Program. Designed by women for women, The Retreat helps you take control of your health. You’ll appreciate the personalized attention and our belief in treating the whole person. At The Retreat, we understand your concerns and partner with you to help you achieve optimum health.

It’s this type of approach that has led us to be nationally recognized for patient satisfaction scores of 98-99% every year since we opened in 2003. 

In addition, The Retreat is guided by Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, our Medical Director who is a board-certified surgeon and Michiana’s only fellowship-trained breast disease specialist.

Our unique blend of services addresses a wide range of health issues – from mammography to massage. In a soothing and supportive environment, you’ll find the latest technology, a health resource center with an on-site health educator, complementary medicine therapies, massage and skin care services.

What does The Retreat offer?

The Retreat Women''s Health Center features the area’s first full-field digital mammography system, bone densitometry and 4D ultrasound. These premium imaging services designate The Retreat as a national showsite by GE Medical Systems for women’s imaging services. Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, board-certified surgeon and breast disease specialist, is Medical Director of The Retreat, and her office is located conveniently on-site.

 

Specialized Services

Health Resource Center books, Internet access, videos and media of all varieties are available in The Retreat’s library.

Here you can find information on a number of health topics, including menopause, pregnancy, parenting, osteoporosis, heart disease, breast cancer, stress management and more. A full-time health educator is available to do one-on-one health education.

 

Complementary Medicine Suite

Consultations pertaining to naturopathic medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture, skin care, bladder control therapies/incontinence and more can be arranged by appointment.

 

Breast Care Coordination

The Retreat, in collaboration with the Goshen Center for Cancer Care, provides coordinated breast cancer screening, prevention and diagnostic services including breast MRI’s, Computer-Aided Detection for breast cancer, ductal lavage for high risk women, ductoscopy, fine needle biopsy, galactography, image guided breast biopsy, scintimammography, MammoSite brachytherapy catheter for breast cancer treatment, genetic counseling and testing, high risk management, PET/CT scan and sentinel lymph node biopsy.

Imaging Technology

selenia Digital mammography system

The Selenia System from Hologic is a full-field digital mammography system that produces computerized breast images. Test results are clearer and much faster than film images and provide physicians with more timely and accurate information. Digital mammograms are recommended for premenopausal women and women with dense breast tissue.

R2 Checker (Computer-Aided Detection)

Every single mammogram is “second-read” by a computer, highlighting areas in need of further attention by a radiologist.

Lunar™ Bone Densitometry

This most advanced technology delivers rapid scans for accurate and precise imaging used to diagnose osteoporosis. Bone density is painlessly measured at the hip and spine, with very low exposure to radiation.

Voluson 730™ 4D Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a safe and generally non-invasive way for physicians to see inside the human body. The 4D ultrasound system provides the highest quality imaging results in obstetrics, breast imaging, interventional urology and general imaging. Women who receive pregnancy ultrasound examinations will receive a CD with pictures of the baby at no extra charge.

Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, is a board-certified surgeon, Michiana’s only fellowship-trained breast disease specialist and the Medical Director of The Retreat.

Sharee Hartman, RN, BSN, Breast Health Specialist, provides breast examinations,
breast health education and breast cancer care coordination.

Brittany Van Groningen, RN, MSN, WHNP-BC, works in conjunction with Dr. Morris
to provide breast examinations, genetic counseling and high risk breast clinics.

Stacy Bowers, Health Education Coordinator,
provides personalized education on health and wellness concerns.
