The Retreat Women’s Health Center Recognized as National Top Performer
GOSHEN, Ind. – For the second year in a row, Press Ganey Associates named The Retreat Women’s Health Center of Goshen Health System a Summit Award Winner. Given annually, the Summit Award recognizes top performing healthcare facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. The Press Ganey Summit Award is the healthcare satisfaction industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement. The Retreat Women’s Health Center in Goshen is just one of only eight outpatient facilities in the nation and the only Indiana facility to receive this prestigious honor in 2007.
Dr. Melvin F. Hall, President and Chief Executive Officer of Press Ganey, presented the award on Nov. 27 during its National Client Conference in Kissimmee, Fla., where nearly two thousand healthcare leaders gathered to discuss key issues related to healthcare quality improvement.
"We are proud partners of The Retreat Women’s Health Center. This is an outstanding accomplishment for the health center and for Indiana. The Retreat has continued to maintain a high level of patient satisfaction over the past three years, and their efforts have led to improved delivery of health care," said Dr. Hall.
“Winning this award demonstrates that we are committed to meeting the health needs of women in the community,” said Executive Director Laurie Busby, RN, MS. “Our dedicated staff of Colleagues have built a caring, healing environment that consistently receives positive comments by women who visit. Women who come to us feel that we truly enjoy what we do, and it makes them feel good about receiving care here."
The Retreat Women’s Health Center is the home of Goshen Health System’s comprehensive, state-of-the-art women’s services program – designed by women for women. The Retreat offers the full-field digital mammography system, lunar bone densitometry and 4D ultrasound equipment, as well as massage, a health resource center with on-site health educator, complementary medicine therapies, cosmetic services, and a wellness gift shop.
The medical director and physician champion of The Retreat is Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, a board-certified surgeon who is the only fellowship-trained breast disease specialist in the Michiana area.|
“The services at The Retreat are designed to appeal to women of all ages. Our Colleagues challenged themselves to create processes that result in easy access to care,” said Dr. Morris. “The positive response from patients, colleagues, and the community has been overwhelming. It is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in high customer satisfaction scores that are recognized on a national level.”
The Retreat, one of the specialty services facilities within the Goshen Health System, has maintained 98-99th percentile Press Ganey customer satisfaction ranking since its opening in 2003. Much of its success is attributed to its culture of responding to women’s needs and requests, based upon the foundation of personalized customer service. The outpatient facility has created a unique environment that is welcoming to
women while still offering a high level of service excellence. This includes convenient hours and same-day service -- walk-in mammograms and same-day diagnostic results. The comprehensive breast care program is just one of the specialized programs at the facility.
The award-winning Heart String Sisters program was developed at The Retreat by Dr. Morris to link women newly diagnosed with breast cancer to breast cancer survivors. The 2007 Hispanic Women’s Health Fair provided free mammograms, pap smears, and health screenings to over 225 women in the Hispanic community. Another unique program that reaches out to the Amish and Mennonite communities, is the Simple Guidance program. Held annually since 2005, the program provides health education and free cancer screenings for women. Through these innovative programs, along with additional health fairs and the “Ask Dr. Laura” newspaper column, The Retreat has made connecting with the women in the community a prime concern.
