Walking Feet, Healthy Beat
GOSHEN, Ind. - Join The Retreat Women's Health Center this February during Heart Health Awareness month as we celebrate 30 years of Goshen Health System's Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
Cardiologist Dr. Mark Smucker will share expert advice on heart health during The Saturday Morning Retreat, "Walking Feet, Healthy Beat" on Feb. 7 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at The Retreat conference center, 1135 Professional Drive, Goshen.
During the morning discussion, Dr. Smucker, Director of Cardiology at Goshen General Hospital, will talk with participants about staying heart healthy through diet and exercise. Joining Dr. Smucker will be motivational speaker Mark Potuck who will lead a lighthearted discussion on the importance of making healthy choices.
"Heart disease affects everyone, and is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States," said Laurie Busby, RN, MS, executive director of The Retreat in Goshen. "Fortunately, there are steps we can take to eliminate some of the risk factors in our lives. By assessing our risks now, we can all begin making healthy lifestyle changes today, and work to significantly reduce our chances of getting heart disease tomorrow."
To aid in assessing risk for cardiovascular disease, free blood pressure and heart monitor patterns screenings, as well as a limited number of free cholesterol screenings will be given to those in attendance. Please call ahead if you are interested in a free screening during the Feb. 7 Saturday Morning Retreat.
A $5 donation is requested to support HeartStrings Sisters, providing free screening mammograms to uninsured women. Seating is limited, so please call 574-537-5000 to reserve your seat.
